Having taken all the pressure off towards the end of 2021 my race calendar was none existent, picking off a few local races to keep the legs ticking over was the way. When I saw that Teens Unite had a 5km Santa Dash organised and it was local to me, I knew that I had to sign up…not just me though, oh no I had to get the family involved too.
My daughter loves to run most of the time, and thankfully today was one of the days where she had an epic time. I think the combination of over 100 Santas running through the town, about twenty dogs running alongside too, and so many cars tooting their horns at the sheer spectacle really took her excitement to the top.
The route was nice and simple, a lap of the local park and then down the high street and back, meaning we got to share the smiles with people as we ran by, shouting Merry Christmas all the way. Obviously, 5km is still a big feat for a seven-year-old so we went with the run/walk approach, and we most certainly ran the downhill parts before walking back up…no other way to do it right?
We thoroughly enjoyed the day, and whilst we live local we will certainly be back next year!
