Race Preview: World United 5k

Running remains a dominant trend for 2024, accompanied by the rise of events like Hyrox. It’s no surprise then that more running events are cropping up in support of this movement, and April brings an exciting addition to our calendars.

Introducing the World United 5k, a run with a mission. Firstly, it’s free to participate. Why? Because it merges the passions of running and football for a common cause: rallying over 1 million runners across 70 countries over one weekend to raise £2 million in support of global homelessness.

When: Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April 2024

Where: Anywhere in the world!

How to join:

  1. Sign up for free at www.worldunited.com, either individually or as a group.
  2. Choose your distance – 1k, 3k, or 5k.
  3. Select your team – Represent your favorite football club by wearing their shirt proudly. Not into football? Opt for Team World United and stand for the Homeless World Cup.
  4. Run – Any location, indoors or outdoors, it’s your call on 27/28 April.
  5. Celebrate – Share a photo on social media with #worldunited5k to validate your run and receive 200 reward points for online redemption plus a 50% merchandise discount. Don’t use social media? Email myrun@worldunited.com with your bib number, full name, and post-run selfie.

To contribute to the fight against homelessness, you can purchase a Champion for Change race t-shirt and medal. All proceeds from merchandise sales directly support the Homeless World Cup Foundation at www.homelessworldcup.org.

Founder Stewart Lochrie and his family will be hitting the pavement on 27 April, proudly sporting their Rangers football shirts. He emphasizes, “When you participate, you’re not just running; you’re contributing to a world without homelessness. All proceeds from the event, through merchandise sales, support the Homeless World Cup Foundation. We’re dedicated to eradicating homelessness through the universal language of football.”
