Reading Half Marathon has always been on my list of races I wanted to run, mostly because I am a Medal or should I say bling collector! I like shiny things, just call me Magpie ha. Also being a massive music head I always felt some affection for Reading after heading there for my first music festival back in 2001, taking in the full weekend experience at Reading Festival which was a big catalyst for getting me into music, journalism and creating Bring The Noise UK.
After contemplating it last year and not taking part, I simply had to sign up for the Reading Half this year, seeing as 2018 is the year of ALL the challenges and ALL the races I couldn’t miss out on this one. Especially after reading that the race finishes in Madejski Stadium, I absolutely adore stadium finishes!Having ran in both The Great Newham Run and the North London Half, both with stadium finishes I know there is no feeling like it, I felt like Josh Bridges running back into the stadium, fist pumping after the run section of MURPH in The Crossfit games…if you’ve seen The Fittest On Earth you will know exactly what I’m talking about, if not check out the video below…
One of the things I am most excited about is the opportunity to pace the beautiful George, or Fitcetera as you may know her. We’ve run a lot together but haven’t raced a half marathon distance yet, I know she is capable of at least a sub 1:45 half marathon…all I have to do now is convince her it is possible.
If you are interested in running the Reading Half Marathon, I wouldn’t mess about as entries close Wednesday 14th February at midnight. Come hangout with George and myself, run it with us and grab a coffee after, let’s make it a social one! You can enter here!
